This weekend saw the 7th Annual Brooklyn Hip-Hop Festival return to New York, the home and birthplace of Hip Hop – one of the most exciting, influential and popular genres of music in modern culture. Brooklyn Bodega are an organisation and online magazine who are committed to promoting and working with artists and influencers who stand for positive Hip-Hop – the movement are also the organisers behind the world famous Brooklyn Hip Hop festival, and this year they decided to team up with legend, Q-Tip for the event! The line-up included Hip Hop greats, both new and old including Q-Tip (of course), Kendrick Lamar, M.O.P, Marley Marl, Stalley and Ali Shaheed Muhammed. More on the reverse.

I was kicking myself when I saw the line-up, feeling really sorry for myself and gutted that I wasn’t there but I’m pretty damn sure that there isn’t a word available in the English Dictionary to describe how I felt when I saw the videos leak over the weekend of Q-Tip bringing Black Thought, Busta Rhymes and my all time favourite artist, soon to be husband and just all-round-amazing man, Kanye West!!! My favourite thing about this video is that Kanye is in Hip Hop mode; he’s in his jeans, vest and hat – jumping around on stage, running around the audience. I would love to be at a show like that, no pretence, no shades, no Italian suits – just straight Kanye!! Enjoy.
