Weekly Wisdom - We are not meant to be perfect. We are meant to be whole.

Frank Ocean, the gravelly-toned, veracious singer songwriter who has managed to achieve the unachievable (be equally as popular with both men AND women?!) has today released his latest ‘song for women’, “Thinking About You”. I peeped this on Soul Culture this morning and have had it on repeat ever since. Just like all of Frank Ocean‘s material, “Thinking About You” is incredibly easy to listen to; it’s that “sunny Sunday afternoon, chilling in bed with your lover” kind of music. The Odd Future singer really impressed me with his improved vocal range on this track, in particular the falsetto. What Frank Ocean never fails to achieve is write songs which we can relate to.

In an era of fronting, bragging, lying and exaggerating, Frank stands out because his lyrics are surprisingly truthful, and, well, frank(!). He sings about situations we can all relate to, situations that have either happened to us, or been caused by us – and personally, that’s why I think he is so hugely successful and enjoyed by both men and women! Forums and blogs are speculating this may be a track from his EP NostalgiaLITE, a shorter version (7 tracks) of the former NostalgiaULTRA ep. I read his label (Def Jam) may be experiencing trouble with copyright clearance on some of the tracks (MGMT/Coldplay etc) so perhaps this is a new one he wrote for the re-release.

Enjoy.

Props to Soul Culture
