Last week, I had a random encounter with a very well dressed New York fella in a Manhattan coffee shop. I asked him for some directions, he complimented me on my watch and English accent and then somehow we got onto the subject of English fashion blogs. To my pleasant surprise he said his favourite blog was Y&Y!!! I nearly choked on my drink and then I told him I was a contributing writer. Anyway that has encouraged me to do some more posts on New York brands, events and the city in general whilst I have the privilege of living in this concrete jungle. After all, looks like Y&Y has enthusiastic readers in New York! This post is on the Nooka watch that the New Yorker kindly complimented me on. More on Nooka watches after the jump.

Nooka is a New York fashion design company founded by artist-designer Matthew Waldman. The brand has a host of products to chose from such as fragrances, belts, wallets, eye wear and t-shirts but the watches are the best sellers and the product that seems to catch most people’s attention. All the watches have a unique design concept with the 12 dots representing hours whilst the horizontal rows counting as minutes.
Zub, V-Series, Zirc, Yogurt, Zem, Zaz and deviant design are the series types of Nooka watches- some of which I personally like more than others. I am not to keen on the colourful Zub collection because I think they look plastic and cheap. The market is pretty saturated with brands that sell colourful watches anyway. I bought the gold Zirc watch which I think has a clean and sophisticated look but is actually very striking as well.
I am also keen on the V-Series and Zaz series which is probably more suitable for guys. There isn’t many places in London where you can buy Nooka watches although I had a search and Magma design in Clerkenwell is one place that sells Nooka. You can also buy them at creativegadgets.com or of course from the Nooka site but I am unsure of International shipping if you are in London.

Ciao for now!
