It’s been a while since we’ve heard new music from former B2K member Omarion. He has had a few issues regarding record labels and all that jazz in the past couple of years, not to mention that infamous outburst from Raz B which drew attention to Omarion (not just him) for the wrong reasons. However this past week saw the release of his mixtape entitled The Awakening. I wasn’t going to post this but I revisited it yesterday and realised that there are a couple of tracks that deserve some recognition. one track though on there that draw my immediate attention is his cover of my baby Aaliyah‘s ‘One In A Million’. All i’ll say is that Ne-yo already murdered the song and got slated so that should have been warning to all other artists not to mess with it. Overall the mixtape is neither great nor totally crap, its a good iTunes library filler. Listened and download after the break. In an interview with Rap-Up he discussed what the new mixtape represents to him.
“The Awakening is about a new beginning. It’s about a new everything……I feel refreshed from everything that I’ve been through up until now. Omarion’s a new man, Omarion’s a different person. It’s time to create new history.”
