Vanessa Bruno’s Fall/Winter collection 2010 is a mixture of light sheer fabrics, knitted layers and fur trims with hints of leather. At first glance they seemed quite ‘put together’ and yet seemingly effortless with subtle glimpses of femininity. The layered textures really give the collection added dimension and the accessories are perfect for the cold months ahead. It’s almost as if these pieces are visual poems symbolizing strength and the taming of nature, each one more enticing than the other. I love the elements of day and night portrayed in the colours ranging from earthy greys and midnight blacks to vivid reds. More on the flipside.

The way the fabrics used for some of the dresses look breezy like they’re floating in the wind is magnificent. It’s like Vanessa has somehow captured not only the perfect material combinations for winter but the essence of it too. Check out some of my favourite pieces below. The French designer describes her style as “effortless and chic Parisian with a touch of urban poetry”.
To capture the atmosphere of her collection Vanessa Bruno has teamed up with director Stéphanie Di Giusto to create a short video entitled ‘Day for Night’ featuring Parisian models Lou Doillon and Valentine Fillol Cordier. “This short movie poetically explores the complexities of femininity by portraying its two heroines exploring, fighting, and taming nature” Alice Pfeiffer.
