We all love music in some way be it the R&B, Hip-Hop genre or the Rock, Indie, Heavy Metal genres, we all enjoy listening to our favourite artists. As we admire the person that is pushed to the forefront and presented to us do we stop to take the time and look behind surface and admire the talent of those in the background? Many may not know him by name but you will have most definitely come across one of his songs, Rico Love is one of the most sought after songwriters/producer in the music industry today and I think it’s time that he gets his shine. Born Richard Butler, Jr Rico Love is a Grammy award winning talent that at aged 27 is just getting started. He has written songs for countless big name artists and is the man behind some of the biggest hits we have heard in the last couple of years.
Mario, Beyonce, Usher, Diddy, and even our very own Miss Alexandra Burke have all called upon the songwritting skills that has been placed in the finger tips of the USA based hit maker.
At just 27 years of age Love has got a very bright and long future ahead of him and as the demand for his services behind the scenes increases so too does his desire to move from the background to the foreground. Just content with being a songwriter and producer he also has tried his hand at singing resulting in moderate success. In recent years he has been credited the guest feature on numerous tracks including tracks on Rich Boy, Juvenile and Fat Joe’s album. Now that some of us have heard him on tracks be it as backing vocals or as a guest feature the only thing left now is for him to start recording some of the smash hits that he writes and put out an album of his own. Something which he has already started to do. Many tracks have leaked with either his vocals or his rapping skills and he even has a track that received video treatment called ‘Settle Down’ directed by Lil X.
For those who are unfamiliar with his work take a look at some of the songs that have been released as singles by some of the biggest stars in the industry. For future reference if you happen to hear the words Turn The Lights On in a song then it would be a good guess to think that Love has written that track as it is his trademark catchphrase. You can hear it all over the chorus of the track directly below.

That is just to name a few. By now you should have a good understand of how talented this man is so I see that I no longer need to emphasise this point. I’ll end this post with a video of the man himself talking about who he has worked with and who he wants to work with in the future. Some of the names may surprise you considering he is predominately associated with R&B and Hip-Hop but that just goes to show that he is as versatile as he is talented.
