Shoulda Woulda Coulda is a new music based post (you know how I do) promoting songs that I feel were overlooked and should have been given single treatment. Album sales hugely depend on the success of the singles released from the album especially the singles released before an album drops. On many occasions artists/labels choose to push the wrong singles in my opinion so my job is to point out the songs that I feel would have been a great single choice. Today’s post include songs from Mariah Carey, Ja Rule, Leona Lewis, The Dream.

Mariah Carey
The Emancipation Of Mimi was such a successful album that It was always going to be hard to follow it with another record that could match its critical and commercial acclaim. E=MC2 was that follow up record, it was released in 2008 and most definitely struggled to reach the heights of success its predecessor but upon listening to the album recently I realised that it actually was a pretty solid effort.
The major downfall of this album were its single choices. Although Touch My Body became Mariah’s 18th number one and secured her place as the solo artist with the most number one singles surpassing Elvis Presley, I still feel it wasn’t the right choice. Touch My Body is one of those bubble gum pop songs that are catchy but very forgettable and for this to be the lead single from the album I feel it suggests that the album is of similar vein hence low album sales.
The album had a few songs which would have made great single choices but were overlooked; I will post more songs from this album I’m sure of it but for now I would like to introduce you all to the first track on the record Migrate. This is a banger so turn your speakers up and get ready to bump your head.

Ja Rule
Where is Ja Rule you ask OMG I remember Ja Rule you shriek both natural outbursts when concerning the man in question. He has been missing from the game for a while now and is high irrelevant in the current industry but try to cast your minds back to 2004 and his R.U.L.E album.
For those who do not remember this album it is the album which spawned the single Wonderful featuring R Kelly and Ashanti (I know many of you are now thinking….Oh I remember that track). Well this next track comes from that album and is places as track 14 on the record. It is a heart felt song with lyrics to match. Its one of those songs which just make you feel a true emotion, for me I feel sad but at the same time very peaceful after I’ve heard the song which is strange considering it is a rap song.
If you are missing a loved one this song is definitely for you. Please don’t feel too emotional and enjoy Life Goes On

Leona Lewis
Now when Leona Lewis won the X-factor I was excited because she was probably the first black/mixed race person to win such a competition. I had listened to material that Leona had recorded before the show and hoped that her debut album would be similar. My hopes were dashed quicker than a shitty nappy when the album was released but its saving grace was a track that I thought would without a shadow of a doubt get a release especially in the US market.
I’m You written by Ne-Yo for me is the most enjoyable song from the album so I hope y’all enjoy.

The Dream
It’s safe to say that The Dream is a dope song writer (when he writes for other people) and he is an ok singer but when it comes to his own music he seems to stick to one formula. Saying that there was one song from his first album Love Hate which wasn’t released that I do feel needs some attention so click play and listen to Playin’ In Her hair.
