Weekly Wisdom - We are not meant to be perfect. We are meant to be whole.

Last weekend we found sometime to conduct a quick photoshoot for Reiss‘s upcoming Autumn/Winter 2010 review. As always we incorporated the Reiss key pieces with items out of own closet and peep the final results after the cut.

Brief Brand History

All of ya’ll know Reiss is a UK-based fashion label, it is owned and ran by it’s founder, David Reiss. The first store was opened in 1971 and now they have over 65 stores worldwide but the majority of the stores are UK-based. The owner kept his vision alive while developing and diversifying the brand – in the year 2000, Reiss put in place an in-house design team and increasing their design credentials by expanding their offerings by creating a complete range of womenswear as well as menswear and accessories. Here’s what their official site states about their philosophy. For me, Reiss are a brand that are design-led and modern.

The Reiss philosophy centres on creating and producing directional, design-led menswear, womenswear and accessories. Reiss prides itself with an uncompromising commitment to delivering innovative, original products combining exceptional design, quality and value.

The Clothes

What I’m Wearing –

See when we first received these jackets, we were a little iffy about them. The first one I tried ‘Ernst’ was Orange. I’ve never worn anything orange in my life and I never thought I would any time soon. Once I actually tried it on, I kinda fell in love. It’s a great fit for me and can definitely go well with a plethora of different looks.

The jeans were perfect fit with five pocket styling, orange stitching and gold hardware. I was pleasantly surprised by them too as I had never worn any Reiss jeans, I’m definitely going to get myself a few pairs once my bank account is replenished (student loan!). You can buy Reiss 1971 India Jeans from their online store for £89.

The next piece I wore was the Tibolt Black jacket with an extended leather patch at the back. If you haven’t already noticed, leather patches are in a lot of this coming season’s collections. It adds a touch of class to the jacket. You’ll have to wait till the end of the month to be able to purchase it.

What Yang’s Wearing (written by YANG) –

One of the things I like about Reiss is that it’s one of the few high street fashion labels that execute the slim tailoring look well- the brand has always kept a good level of sophistication and though being fashion forward is not priority they still produce stylish and innovative pieces every season without compromising its brand identity.

As I said before, Reiss are known for executing that clean cut slim fit look and I think these jeans illustrate this very well. The ‘Bentley’ jeans are coated in Resin to give it a bit of a shine, together with a slim fit cut, it will definitely stand out in the pile of black jeans that everyone has in the wardrobes! Next I’m wearing “Staring ”a deep chocolate brown jacket made from a very thick suede/sheepskin. The jacket is very comfortable to wear and it’s really warm.

In the shoot I’m wearing The Norton shirt in navy blue and cream check. The fabric is quite thick and rough which is perfect for the AW season. I wore the shirt with a darker navy t-shirt which emphasises the cream check in the shirt. It’s supposed to be dressed casual however to you can attempt to dress it up with a plain cardigan and shoes. I’m also wearing the Rockford loafers in black, very simple finish with fabric on the side panels and leather & gold detailing.

The Location

For the shoot we choose the beautiful Canary Wharf. A number of locations were in mind however due to the nature of the brand we felt Canary Wharf best fit the job.

Until next time folks.
