Eargasms

posted in music by Yin

This post has definitely turned into a fortnightly thing now! I don’t download as many songs as I used to so it’s best to wait a bit before I have a decent collection to share. I’ll kick start things with a few songs from an artist I featured when we first launched the site, his due album is due out next week. More on the flipside.

I know Mike Posner‘s music sounds really electro-pop but I like it, it’s very summery and the beats are infecitous. I’m a big fan of his music since I heard his mixtape early last summer. He produces most of his music himself! and he also created most of this album while finishing his senior at university. ’31 Minutes Till Take Off’ due out on August 10th, go cop!

Mike Posner – Please Don’t Go – Link, Bow Chicka Wow Wow – Link

“I feel the sun creeping up like tik tok
I’m trying to keep you in my head but if not
We’ll just keep running from tomorrow with our lips locked”

I’ve waited around 6 months for the studio version of ‘Please Don’t Go‘ and it doesn’t disappoint.

Ya’ll are most likely to remember this guy from Mario‘s single ‘Break Up’. He’s been around in the industry for a while now – one of those multi-talented folks that pretty much to do everything music-related – singer, rapper, producer. He’s actually written songs for Usher, Beyoncé, Jay-Z, 112, Chris Brown and many more. Like many producers turned singers, Sean Garrett‘s releasing his sophomore album in a few months and I think this is the 2nd single from his upcoming project.

Sean Garrett - Feel Love (feat. Drake) – Link

This is a TUNE, so catchy.

“With the most beautiful eyes that a n-gga ever seen
You pull an emotional vibe from my soul, look at me
You got my heart beating like my back is filled with batteries.”

Bonus cut – Drake - I’m Ready For You – Link, Bun B – Put It Down (feat. Drake) – Link

You know Eargasms wouldn’t be complete without a song with Drizzy.

Bit of Soul flavor up next, new cuts from Eric Benét and Marsha Ambrosius. I’m definitely feeling both of these songs and being honest, I don’t really check for both these artists. Eric Benét reminds me of Maxwell, the lyrics are deep, brutally honest in fact. His vocal range like Maxwell is insane, I just don’t know how dudes can get their voice this high.

Marsha Ambrosius – Hope He Cheats On You – Link
Eric Benet – Sometimes I Cry – Link

Next up a few live acoustic songs from one of my favourite artists at the moment, Bruno Mars. These are mp3s from a recent live performance of his 3 hit songs, ‘Nothin’ On You, Billionaire & Just The Way You Are’. These are extended cuts of the 2 songs that he’s featured on.

Bruno Mars - Nothin’ On You – Link, Just The Way You Are – Link, Billionaire – Link

This is a dope song from Usher, much much better than that O.M.G. crap I keep hearing at every party and on every radio station. The beat is insane, especially the drop just before Jay-Z‘s verse. Apparently Ciara was meant to feature on the final version but that got scrapped, I’d like to hear that version!

Usher – Hot Toddy (feat. Jay-Z) – Link

“I was born a God
I made myself a king
which means I down graded to a human being”

Err Jay-Z lyrics, only he could get away with such lyrics.

Round-Up Of The Rest

Freemasons - Believer (feat. Wynter Gordon) – Link
Sterling Simms – Scream – Link
Free Sol - Don’t Give It Away – Link
Wale – Ambitious Girl – Link
J. Cole – Problems – Link
Ne-Yo – Laying Around – Link, Hurt Me – Link
Diggy Simmons – Thinkin’ Bout U (feat. Bei Maejor) – Link
Mr. Hudson – Love Never Dies – Link

Alternative Ish

I don’t really have any alternative music this week but this track kinda qualifies for it. I love the Orchestra backing from E.S. Posthumus, for those that don’t know who they are -

They are an independent music group that produces cinematic style music. It is a form of classical that intertwines popular style drum rhythms with orchestral and electronic sounds. Their music is inspired by the Pythagorean philosophy which states that “music is the harmonization of opposites; the conciliation of warring elements”. The E.S. is an acronym for “Experimental Sounds” while Posthumus is a Dog Latin word that is meant to represent “all things past

They worked with Jay-Z to create a special version of ‘Run This Town’ for a Super Bowl Commercial a few months back. Here’s the mp3 for it, it’s perfect work out music.

Jay-Z – Run This Town | Posthumus Zone (Medley) (feat. Rihanna & E.S. Posthumus) – Link

Until next time,
