So the plan was not to sleep in hopes of not missing our flights. We conked! You would think we would have panicked, we just got up casually like it was a normal day in NY. Plane to catch at 8.30, massive reality check as we stood baffled checking out! We left the hotel going our separate ways, me off to LaGuardia and everyone else to JFK. emotional.

I get to LaGuardia and the check in and baggage drop is outside by the parking lot, thats different. But why did the woman tell me I have to pay $25 for traveling with luggage though? Do Americans not travel with luggage no? Then she had the cheek to tell me I wouldn’t have to pay if I was travelling either First Class, Business Class or Sky Priority Class!

Then the dude directing people onto security, checks my passport and attempts to pronounce my surname and fails severely. The convo went like this:

Airport Dude: Pokupah?

Me: No its Opoku-Appiah

Airport Dude: *Grins* Ok, this way Mr Pokupah

Me: Are you retarded? I just told you it’s Mr Opoku-Appiah *runs away*

Now that is just pure ignornance! What’s so hard about saying “OPOKU-APPIAH” I’m sorry but if you an say “LAGUARDIA AIRPORT” then my surname should not be a problem! I asked him if he was retarded and then stormed off in case he had the power to deny my leaving the state.

Aside from my card being cloned, it has been an amazing adventure in the big apple! I’m already missing all the tall buildings, taxi rides and just generally being in that city! Being in Ohio makes me love NY even more, it’s so suburban and quiet here I’m actually googling places to go and see this week because boy I am not watching American TV all week whilst stuffing my face with Taco Bell as tempting as it sounds!

Looks like I’ll have to make the most and explore what Ohio has to offer this week!
