Its been 53 years since Ghana gained its independance! Some people take this day as a day to go raving and some people don’t really care; but for me it is more about acknowledging the best things about my country and appreciating my heritage! I haven’t got all day to sit here and write an essay again so I’ll try and keep this one short.

The Culture
There are many things I don’t agree with in Ghanaian culture but I still appreciate it because those values that were drummed into my head as a kid have made me the work of art I am today.
The Films
You gotta love the world renowned performances that Ghanaians display in films, thought it might be really bad it definitely keeps me entertained- here is a clip of taxi driver- you might have seen it on OBE: admittedly one of the worst channels on TV.
The Food
Love Ghanaian food! The Classics: Kenkay, Banku, Omo Tuo and old school Nkotomire Stew. I don’t care what anyone says: Jollof rice is a GHANAIAN DISH- I do not appreciate Nigerians trying to steal our Manna- I know we’re neighbors we don’t mind sharing but please stop… Thanks!
The Parents
One can call it child abuse actually, but in actual fact its called discipline- this is a trait that all Ghanaian parents will harness to the fullest, when I lived at home I was on LOCK, don’t even think you can get one over on your parents that is not happening- never in my household anyway!
Ok now I really have to go, I’m going to finish here with some links to some of the events happening tonight in London, though you should have got tickets early. You know sometimes they sell more tickets than the venue can actually hold- what kind of nonsense is that!? I would recommend going to the Troxy event, Stratford Rex is horrible.
