I haven’t done one of these posts in a while. I wish my university course had more ‘fun’ stuff like analysing real adverts as well as filming more of our own. Some of the adverts I’ve seen over the years are so genius, It makes me wonder if I’ll ever be able to produce adverts of that standard after I gain a degree? SMH. I won’t get into the whole university degree and creative talent argument that can be saved for another post! adverts on the flipside.
1. HBO Hung – They take advertising by the balls with their new billboard campaign in New Zealand. It is a 3D billboard of umm, yeh you can see it. Advertising Agency Collenso BBDO is responsible for this one. Props to Gemma for the linkage.
2. This new £2 million campaign unveiled earlier this week by the Home Office is quite hard-hitting and it’s on a pretty sensitive topic; domestic violence. According to NSPCC statistics – a quarter of girls aged 13 to 17 have experienced physical violence from a boyfriend and a third have been pressured into unwanted sexual acts. Shocking. The advert is directed by the man behind ‘This Is England’ Shane Meadows and he wanted to ‘highlight the problem of emotional violence, including verbal insults and controlling behaviour such as monitoring text messages’.
3. Sky Sports Italia – HD. Everything seems to be turning high definition and I must say watching football is splendid, crystal clear. I don’t have £50 to throw around for the monthly subscription though. This is quite a clever print campaign by Sky; it portrays the destruction of pixels with the birth of HD. Great visuals.
4. Stratos Chocolate. I think this next advert is quite a few years old but it’s genius and i’m sure chicks would ‘aww’ at it.
