Those of you that went to Newvic Sixth Form will recognise Saci Lloyd and those of us lucky enough to be taught by her will know about the novels she wrote: ‘Carbon Diaries’. I just read on the BBC news website that she was approached by Hollywood star Johnny Depp to adapt her book into a film! Saci fully locked him off!
The Carbon Diaries 2015 is a futuristic story set in London about a girl’s struggles in a world affected by climate change. 16-year-old Laura Brown, documents life in Great Britain after it became the first country to try carbon rationing. The book’s sequel ‘The Carbon Diaries 2017‘ picks up the story two years later as the government is forced to tighten its grips on carbon rationing.
She choose Company Pictures an independent film & production company based here in the UK. Saci chose to turn down Depp’s proposal because her books “are really about London” she goes on in the short interview.
